Etsy is an ecommerce platform that allows customers to shop the listings of many small makers all at once. In use, it is more similar to an Amazon or eBay shopping experience than a direct shop-to-customer site. Its simple setup and the combined customer pull of many makers in one space make it an attractive prospect; but their fee schedules and a number of their business practices have lead to high levels of controversy, including general maker strikes and the formation of the indie seller guild.
