Shopify is an e-commerce platform, commonly used by toy shops for its ease of use, competitive pricing, and customer familiarity. Here's a few tips to get you started, including basic setup, and migration from Etsy.

Getting Started - Account Logins and Shop Setup

• Step 1: Set up a Shopify Account Login

  • An account can be set up via several links on the Shopify.com main page
    • "Sign up now," "Start free trial," or "Login" -> "Get Started"

• Follow the prompts for basic account setup, one example shown here 
  • "Continue with Email" -> Fill out basic information -> "Create Shopify ID"
  • -> "Create Store"

• Verify your login email via the startup email sent to your email address
• Another prompt will pop up for additional basic information: Name, phone number, language. Fill out the prompts and click "Create Store"
• One last prompt will pop up, enter your Store Name (must be unique) and click "Create Store"

• Step 2: Creating a Store

  • After signing up for a Shopify Account, you'll need to create the store itself within the account
  • Shopify.com/signup  ->  "Already have a Shopify account"
  • Login with Shopify Account and click "Create Store"

• Walk through the prompts for quick setup, or click "Skip"

• Input your address information for payment processing

• Setup guide:
  • Add your first item 
    • Click "Add product"
    • Fill out product information, be detailed 
      • Title, Description, Media, Pricing, Inventory details, Shipping weight, Options for variants, Product Status (active or draft)

  • "Customize Theme" - specify the visuals and layout of your webstore
    • Edit Sections, Colors, Themes
    • Choose font styles, insert media, pick color pallets, and much more.
    • Lots of options available, take time to update your shop scheme and vibes for your store
  • Add a custom domain
    • choose a custom domain for your shop, for an extra fee through Shopify
  • Set up Shopify Payments
    • Follow the Shopify prompts to input your banking information to receive payments, and pay Shopify fees

Etsy to Shopify Migration

Want to move over from the Etsy (or other common) platform? Item listings, custom information, sales data and more can be migrated directly into your Shopify account.

Note- Items will import as ACTIVE. Recommended to put shop into Password protection to validate listings during import process

• Sales Channel -> Online Store -> Preferences -> Password protection -> "Restrict access to visitors with the password" 

Step 1: Export Etsy Data

• Download Current Listings
  • Go to Etsy Dashboard, Shop Manager -> Settings -> Options -> Currently for Sale Listings
  • Click "Download CSV"
• 
• Download Customers and Orders
  • Download Shop Data ->Orders
  • Click "Download CSV"
  • 
• Download Shop Data
  • "Take your data with you" -> "Download your shop settings" & "Download your reviews"

Step 2: Import your store data to Shopify

• Go to -https://apps.shopify.com/store-importer
• Click on “Add app” to add to your store
• Click “Install app”
• 
• Select Etsy from dropdown
• Scroll down and click “Add file”
• Select the Etsy files from Step 1
• Click “Continue import”

Step 3: Verify Import Success

• Items will import as ACTIVE
• Check the status of imported items from the "Products" page
• Items can be sorted by "importID" tags
• Description formatting will not import
